Wing Wah Restaurant
Wing Wah Restaurant, located at 337 E Rand Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004, is a beloved spot known for its flavorful Chinese cuisine. Having undergone a few ownership changes over the years, this restaurant has consistently delivered delicious food, with a reputation for quality and generous portions. Although the dining-in option is not currently available, many loyal customers appreciate the take-out service, which remains a convenient choice for those craving authentic Chinese flavors at home.
One of the standout features of Wing Wah is the variety of its menu. From their lunch specials, which offer great value with hearty portions and plenty of meat, to their signature dishes like the General Tso’s Chicken, they certainly know how to fill up a container. The crispy, perfectly breaded General Tso’s with a kick of flavor has earned rave reviews, as well as their Shrimp Egg Foo Yung, where the shrimp is abundant and the gravy complements the dish wonderfully. The Shrimp Fried Rice is another favorite, with tender rice and just the right balance of seasoning without overpowering soy sauce.
Another highlight is their dry beef chow fun, a Cantonese-style dish that combines crispy, pan-fried yellow noodles with tender beef and broccoli. For fans of hearty soups, the Yet Ca Mein Soup is a great choice, served in a warm chicken broth with plenty of noodles and BBQ pork.
Wing Wah also takes pride in its egg rolls, filled with a delightful mix of pork and shrimp, making them stand out from typical offerings in the area. The crab rangoons, filled with imitation crab and cream cheese, are another must-try item. These dishes, along with their attention to detail in food preparation, make Wing Wah a popular choice for both casual diners and long-time patrons.
Whether you're stopping by for a quick lunch or grabbing a meal to go, Wing Wah continues to impress with its consistently good food, friendly service, and generous portions.
Wing Wah Restaurant Reviews
Updating my review because in the last 13 years since my last review, this place is STILL going strong with good Chinese food. Yes, it's not all "authentic" Chinese (Cantonese) food, but it's delicious and there are dishes on the menu that you will find prepared in homes of Cantonese people like my parents' home. Service is always friendly. The owner of WingWah usually takes the order and he's always so sweet. It appears they are take out only for the time being, but maybe just when I went to pick up my order. I've only ordered take out. It's fast, tasty, and they really fill their containers with food! My husband loves their General Taos. It's breaded not too thick with a nice sauce that has a small kick to it. The vegetables are fresh and plenty, but not so much that there's more veggies than chicken. My go to items are: Shrimp Egg Foo Yung - they don't skimp on the shrimp! Every bite has shrimps and there's plenty of gravy to cover my Egg Foo Yung and rice. Shrimp Fried Rice: just like the egg foo yung, they don't skimp on the shrimp here too. It's not salty, the rice is tender and filled with flavor without being downed with soy sauce. Beef and broccoli chow mein Cantonese style: this isn't the crunchy style noodles. This is the long, thin yellow noodles that are pan fried so the edges are crispy and the center is soft. The beef and broccoli is packed separately so the noodles stay crunchy. Mixed together they make delicious bites - kinda like what my mom makes at home. Other notable dishes of my order: the egg rolls are good, filled with pork and shrimp - not just cabbage like the other places (I think I can taste peanut for those who might have allergies - ask ahead of time to make sure). The crab rangoons are so good, filled with imitation crab and cream cheese. Yum! My son likes the Yet Ca Mein Soup because it's not salty and it tastes of real chicken broth. There's ample noodles and BBQ pork pieces in the soup. The soup is the perfect warmup, tasty, winter soup!
Nice and clean made tu order really good eggroll they don't have dine in anymore but they let me eat my food in here. I tried their eggroll which were really good. I ended up ordering another order. I came in for hot and sour soup. I could use some white pepper, but the guy gave me hot sauce And I'm waiting for my other order eggroll and beef chow fun. Extra crispy.i just ate the chow fun cold it's really tasty I'll be back
Been ordering lunch here on the go quite some time and finally got around to putting up a review from a pick up lunch from last week I like coming here because the portions are super generous and pricing is fair. It is located in a strip mall with shared parking, which is usually easy to find. We order the Singapore Noodles shrimp toast, as well as the sesame chicken this time around. Although these are typically Americanize Chinese food, I will say sometimes I do have this type of craving and they do it well. I will definitely come back again and order food and it's also helpful that the owners are Chinese so I know there's a little bit of authenticity involved in what they are making. There are lots of pick up counter, Chinese restaurants here in the Arlington Heights area so there's a lot of competition. But they definitely have lots of good flavors and taste.
It has changed hands a few times. I have been going there since they first opened. For awhile it declined, but seems to be coming back strong. I wish you could dine in again as Chinese food never seems to be as good when you have to pack it up and transport. Their lunch specials are a lot of food and I think a good value. They don't seem to skimp on portion size or amount of meat. I have always liked their egg rolls and soups. I can't really comment on anything but lunch since it has been a really long time since I had dinner there. They also do a nice job on their dry beef chow fun. Not happy about the credit card surcharge - wish they would just add a few cents to every entree - they would come out to same and it wouldn't be so irritating to customers.
